Snowfall Forecast (Click to Enlarge)

Maps from WeatherAdvance.com

As we head into the fall here at the TWC we begin to get geared up for the winter weather season. Looking over some of the long range models, and scenarios that people a lot more educated than us have produced it seems evident that this winter season could produce some higher than average snowfalls. When we say higher than average we mean higher than many years in the past, not just higher totals of winter precip. than the say 4 wimpy winters we have had in the past. The models that I have posted above are a good representation of what we at the TWC fell is in store for us this winter. We have seen maps/models with higher amounts lower amounts warmer temps. cooler temps. but the majority of forecasters as well as us are swinging their ideas from a warmer drier winter in the Carolinas to a wetter, much more frigid winter. Part of our idea changes is the evidence of cooler water in the Atlantic, look at this year’s hurricane season and remember hurricanes feed off warmer waters. The corridor of cold seems as if it will shift onto the east coast setting up a bone chilling cold from Boston to D.C. and pulling very cold air south way beyond the Triad. It is still VERY early and as you know in this area it’s hard to predict winter weather 45 minutes before it is expected to hit. So with that being said things can and WILL change so stay tuned for the latest update, and when winter weather is eminent check in often as we will keep you informed.
